Native of Norway, MI; graduated from Norway High School in 1961. Graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1965.

Prior to moving to Minnesota in 1978, when I began working as a technical writer for Honeywell, I had been an English teacher in Kingsford MI, communications manager at a truck equipment company, manager of a motorcycle dealership, owner of a small manufacturing business, a professional ski instructor, and a ski school director.

After leaving Honeywell in 1992, I was self-employed as an information systems consultant and web developer. I had some wonderful projects with clients such as Medtronic and the University of Minnesota. I retired at the beginning of 2006, but continue do a bit of consulting in support of such clients as Top Notch Treecare and National Exercise Trainers' Association.

My son, Kris, born in 1977, received his BA from the University of Minnesota. He received his Masters in Museum Studies from the University of Colorado in 2006. During his time there, he was manager of the art gallery in the University Memorial Center. Following graduation, He was accepted into the doctorate program in Art History at the University of Washington in Seattle. He married his wife, Jess, on Valentine's Day 2007.

In the spring of 2007 I married Pam Nelson, whom I've known since 1965 ... we reside in Wisconsin. She has two grown daughters and five grandchildren: two boys, ages 5 & 7, and indentical triplet girls, age 3 (these ages as of January 2008).

Since I grew up around the sport of ski jumping, it's been a lifelong interest. Like many kids my age, I dabbled in it while in junior high and high school before moving on to downhill. Kris also did a bit of jumping as a kid. In 2000, I began work on a ski jumping website which went online prior to the 2002 season; it is the most-visited English language website devoted to ski jumping ... see SkiJumpingUSA.com.

Among my other interests are cars, motorcycles, and kayaking (very much an amateur). Click here for some motorhead stuff, plus info and photos of my current and former "fleet." I use the word "current" loosely ... it needs some updating.
